Clubdays
The main club season runs from the beginning of March to the middle of November. Men’s club day is Sunday with tee-off times between 9am and 10.30am. Women’s club day is Tuesday at 9.30am. Where practicable, visitors are welcome to join the scramble which is included in the price of their green fee.
Dress Code
Pirongia is a country club with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We have no strict dress code but rely on our members and visitors to maintain a clean and tidy standard of dress, and to have consideration for others at all times. Overly revealing clothing, either men’s or women’s, on the course or in the clubhouse, is not considered suitable by the majority of members so we ask that you consider this when deciding what to wear. Short shorts, low-cut tops, bare midriffs, singlets and bare feet are not acceptable.

Handicaps
Only full members with an official NZGolf handicap are eligible to take part in tournaments and club competitions. The exception is twilights when limited members may be given an unofficial handicap for use at Pirongia twilights ONLY.
Facilities
Catering, bar service and Eftpos are available on club days and for tournaments, and on other occasions by arrangement. Outside these times the nearby village of Pirongia offers excellent eating and drinking opportunities.
Help for New Golfers
To obtain an official NZ Golf handicap index you must first complete five rounds of golf and post your cards in the box in the changing room. Every second Wednesday all handicap indexes are recalculated and updated lists are displayed in the men’s and women’s changing rooms. Alongside your handicap index is your course handicap which is the handicap that applies when you play at Pirongia. If you play at any other course you must convert your handicap index to a course handicap using their conversion chart which is prominently displayed.
Please ensure that any cards you hand in are completed fully and legibly with your name, 7-digit ID number, handicap index, date, course handicap and your score for each hole, AND ARE SIGNED BY BOTH YOU AND YOUR MARKER. This is very important or your card will not be accepted.
Twilights
The 2011/12 twilight season at Pirongia will run from Monday 17th October 2011 until Monday 12th March 2012. The cost is $7 and the tees are open from 4pm to 6pm. Meals are available at $10 each.
Veterans/Midweek
‘Rob’s Scramble’, a veterans cum midweek fixture, is held on alternate Thursdays throughout the season. Roll up in plenty of time for a shotgun start at 10am. There is no catering available but a portion of hot chips is included in your scramble fee of $5.
Motorhomes
Motorhomes are welcome to overnight in our car park. Power and water are available. There is no charge but some people choose to make a donation towards the cost of power, and for the use of the toilets and showers. You should be aware that our electronic gates close approximately half an hour after sunset and don’t open again until the following morning, so there is no vehicle access between these times.
